Announcement Regarding Applications for FOPLC Business Agents

The Michigan Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council (FOPLC) has finished its complete reorganization, and is now rapidly expanding throughout Michigan. We are actively seeking applicants for Business Agents from across Michigan.

Current openings are in these areas:

Muskegon south and east to the Lansing/Jackson area

    Metro Detroit Tri-County area

A college degree in a related field is preferred but not required. Applicants must have a minimum five years of extensive and concentrated experience in labor relations work.

That experience must include a history of contract negotiations, unfair labor practices, appeal procedures, contract administration, and representing employees in disciplinary settings and termination hearings.

Knowledge of Garrity Rights and critical incidents are an asset, but not necessarily required. Training and support will be provided by the FOPLC. Business agents will also act as recruiters, in concert with FOPLC staff and attorneys.

Computer literacy is a must. The FOPLC now boasts the first and only virtual, statewide office. That office provides instant access to all necessary forms, documents, cases, and other materials as needed by all FOPLC agents and attorneys throughout Michigan.

The system operates through an encrypted, cloud-based IT system. It allows the FOPLC business agents to work from home - as well as participate in monthly, statewide FOPLC conference meetings by phone and Skype.

The agents' hours and schedule will vary, depending upon work. They must have a valid Michigan driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance. This position requires driving to various locations within the State of Michigan. The FOPLC provides worker compensation and umbrella travel insurance; as well as professional liability insurance at no cost to the staff and business agents.

Resumes can be E-Mailed, Faxed, or mailed through the US Postal Service to the addresses below. The FOPLC is an equal opportunity employer. We want only the very best and the most committed applicants to join our organization. Dedication and perseverance are the standards, and not the exceptions.

    Forward resumes and inquiries to:

    P.O. Box 71527
    Madison Heights, Michigan 48071-0527
