Judd is employed as a Detective Sergeant with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.  He has been employed with the Sault Ste. Marie P.D. for 17 years. Judd has been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police since he became involved in law enforcement and has been active in both local and state levels.  He is a member of Sault Ste. Marie Lodge #115 serving as President for three consecutive years.  He previously served as District 7 Trustee, State Lodge Sergeant-At-Arms, State Lodge Treasurer and State Lodge Secretary prior to his election to State Lodge President.

Kurt has been a police officer for 30 years, currently a Detective/Sergeant with Owosso Police Dept.  He is a member of the Shiawassee Valley Lodge #137 and has held virtually every position at one time or another with that lodge.  At the State level, Kurt has served as 6th District Trustee and 2nd Vice-President prior to being elected State Vice-President.

John P. Sadowski has been a law enforcement officer for over 17 years.  Currently he is a Patrol Sergeant with Saginaw Twp. Police Department.  He has been an active member of Saginaw Twp. Lodge #105 for 17 years and the Treasurer of that lodge for the past 12 years.  John served as the State Lodge Sergeant and 2nd Vice President. John is married and has two children.

Harold West has been an active law enforcement officer for the past 30 years. Currently he is a detective with Kalamazoo Public Safety. During his career, he has served in a variety of assignments including Neighborhood Liaison Officer, street patrol, and narcotics investigation. He has been a member of Greater Kalamazoo Lodge #98 for the past 27 years. During the last 11 years, he has held a variety of offices with his lodge including Trustee, Sergeant at Arms, 2nd Vice President, Vice President, and President.  This is Harold's first year as Treasurer of the State Lodge.

Pat Lemke is a Patrolman for the city of Ferndale, he has been with the Department for 12 years.  Pat is a second generation FOP Member. (Ted Lemke is also a Member for Lodge 130).  Pat has been the President of the South Oakland Lodge #130 since 2005, he was the District 11 Trustee and State Lodge Sgt -at-Arms. He also sits as a Committee Member for the Grand Lodge Recruitment and Retention Committee.  Pat is Married to his wife Marcie and they have two children.

Kevin Sommers,

Kevin is a Lieutenant with the City of Warren Police Department.  He has served with the Warren P.D. for 24 years.  He has been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police since 1983 at Christopher M. Wouters Lodge #124.  Kevin served four terms as the President of Lodge #124 from 1991-1994.  He was the first son of a former President to be elected to that position.  His father Art served in that capacity in 1964.  Kevin also served as Vice-President from 1988-1989, Secretary from 1989-1991 and as a Guard from 1987-1988. 

Kevin has served on the State Board since 1993.  Kevin served six terms as State President from 1999-2005.  He also served as State Vice-President from 1997-1999, State Secretary from 1995-1997, State Treasurer from 1994-1995 and State Guard from 1993-1994. 

Kevin currently holds the position of National Trustee which he was elected to at this past National Conference in New Orleans in 2005.

Kevin currently serves as the Chairman of the National Safety and Technology Committee.  He has served on that committee since 1999.  Kevin was also appointed by President George W. Bush to the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH).

Dave is currently Chief-of-Police with the Grosse Pointe Park Department of Public Safety and has been employed with them for over 30 years. 

Dave has been a member of the Grosse Pointe Lodge #102 since 1972.  He has extensive history at all levels of the Fraternal Order of Police locally, statewide and nationally. Dave served as the President of Lodge #102 for 6 years.  He also served as the State President for 2 years, State Secretary for 2 years, District #4 Trustee for 2 years and the National Trustee for 10 years prior to being elected NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT at this year's National Conference held in New Orleans.

Executive Director


John Buczek came aboard in May 1999.  A native of Bay City, Buczek joined the Bay City Police Department in 1976 as a patrolman and has worked as an undercover narcotics detective, a community police officer and patrol supervisor.  He recently retired as a uniform lieutenant and shift commander with 23 years of service.  He has been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police since 1976, serving on the local level for over ten years before being elected to the state board.  He has served as a state officer for nine years; the last two as president.
