Randy Mason, Director of Labor Services

Dear Randy;

I was recently in contact with Chuck Canterbury, the National President of the Fraternal Order of Police.  I posed the question to President Canterbury as to the status of Michigan's Correctional Officers as Active Members of the F.O.P.

President Canterbury confirmed what you and I had talked about while at our Mid-Year Board Meeting in Frankenmuth.  Michigan's Correctional Officers will be accepted as Active Members in the Fraternal Order of Police.

As Active Members, Michigan's Correctional Officers shall be entitled to all rights and privileges afforded to any member of the Fraternal Order of Police.  Please advise the Correctional Officers that any rumors being circulated that the F.O.P. would treat them as "second class members" or "gofers" is a complete falsehood.

We look forward to having Michigan's Correctional Officers as Brothers and Sisters in the Fraternal Order of Police.  We further look forward to serving their labor needs.

Fraternally;

Kevin M. Sommers
